ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 11. The agro-industrial sector of Turkmenistan saw an increase in production by 4.4 percent from January through August 2023, compared to the same period of the previous year, Trend reports.
This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Tangryguly Atakhallyev at a government meeting held on September 8, 2023.
According to him, during the specified period, the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan increased production by 4.6 percent, the Ministry of Environmental Protection - by 1.4 percent, the State Committee of Water Management showed an increase of 2.3 percent, and the Turkmen Atlary State Association achieved an increase of 1.7 percent.
Moreover, the Deputy Chairman noted that the plan for the development of investments in agriculture for this period was exceeded by 137.8 percent.
Agriculture holds a pivotal position in Turkmenistan's economy. The primary agricultural products cultivated within Turkmenistan's borders include wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, forage, vegetables, melons, fruits, and berry crops.
