ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 20. Turkmenistan and Afghanistan discussed the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission project, Trend reports.
This issue was discussed during the meeting of the Head of Turkmen Energy Ministry’s International Electricity Projects Department in the TAP direction Myrat Artykov, with the Acting Minister of Energy and Water of Afghanistan, Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor.
During the meeting, the sides touched upon the modernization of the Nur-al-Jihad substation located in the Herat province .
At the same time, they stressed the need for a trilateral meeting on the implementation of the TAP project in order to complete it as soon as possible.
The Turkmen side supported the proposal to organize a trilateral meeting, assuring the Afghan Minister of continuing cooperation in this line.
Furthermore, the parties discussed the export of Turkmenistan's electricity to Afghanistan for 2024, in this context noting that the commissioning of a new substation in Herat province will increase the supply of electricity from 70 megawatts through 110 megawatts.
Meanwhile, in September of this year, the Afghan Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) energy company officially began construction of the Noor Al-Jihad Substation in Herat province in order to increase electricity imports from Turkmenistan.
