ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, February 23. The marble factory of Geokdepe district located in the Ahal region of Turkmenistan increased production by 263.8 percent in the first month of this year compared to the same month of 2022, Trend reports.
According to official data, the company produced about 2,500 square meters of marble in the specified month.
In terms of value, the marble factory produced products in the first month of this year totaling about 625,000 Turkmen manat ($178,400).
The main reason for the jump is the growth of consumer demand, as well as the improvement in the quality of manufactured products, in particular marble and granite.
Meanwhile, the marble factory of Geokdepe district is the largest production enterprise of 'Turkmenmramor' Joint-Stock Company.
In light of Turkmenistan's desire to diversify the economy and strengthen the industrial sector, the development of marble production is becoming one of the important tasks.
The country has significant reserves of high-quality marble, and thanks to active government support and investments in modern technologies for stone extraction and processing, new prospects for its exploitation are opening up.
