ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 30. Ashgabat hosted the first hybrid meeting of the Working Group on Sustainable Economics and Finance (SEF), organized jointly by the UN Development Program (UNDP) and the US Embassy in Turkmenistan on May 28 this year, Trend reports.

According to the official source, the meeting was attended by representatives of the diplomatic community of Ashgabat, who were informed about the goals and planned activities of the Working Group.

Reports from development partners were presented, and ways to promote sustainable economic and financial development in Turkmenistan through cooperation and open dialogue were discussed.

The speakers representing the event organizers stated that the SEF group will help Turkmenistan's people and government establish trade relations with the world, fully participate in the digital and green economy, and provide economic opportunities for all.

At the same time, it was emphasized that the discussion of issues of economic development and financing for development by the UN and partners is especially important in the context of Turkmenistan's intention to join the WTO and the measures taken to improve the business climate and attract investment.

The gathering also observed that the SEF Working Group wants to have monthly meetings to improve coordination, knowledge exchange, awareness-raising, and economic and financial cooperation.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan is striving for sustainable economic development and integration into global trading systems, which is reflected in its active measures to improve the business climate and attract foreign investment.

Signing up for the WTO, which mandates international standards and active engagement with international organizations, is a major step toward economic growth and job creation.
