ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, June 1. Turkmenistan's natural pastures currently cover an area of more than 38.5 million hectares, Trend reports.
This was stated by the head of the department of agrarian reforms, agricultural science, and education of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, Kerim Saparov, at the Gulf Cooperation Council-Central Asian Investment Forum, held in Riyadh city, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He noted that in recent years, the volume of production of vegetable and berry products has increased dramatically in the country, and the area of perennial fruit plantations, vineyards, and greenhouses has increased.
"Strong state support, exemption from payment of all types of taxes and fees, and preferential loans to private entrepreneurs have contributed to the emergence of many new modern poultry and livestock complexes. All this has stimulated the rapid growth of the agricultural processing industry, which is in great demand on the foreign market," Myradov added.
Meanwhile, official data show that from January through April of this year, the growth rate of production in the agro-industrial complex of Turkmenistan amounted to 24.4 percent.
This figure for the first 4 months of 2024 for the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan amounted to 44.2 percent, and for the Ministry of Environmental Protection it was 0.1 percent.
