The Senate (upper house of the Uzbek parliament) ratified an agreement between Uzbekistan and Oman on the basis of cooperation and relations at the plenary session.

In accordance with the provisions of the agreement, both countries will seek to develop relations in political, economic, commercial and cultural area based on the principle of mutual trust and cooperation. The agreement also sets out the agreements on the exchange of experience on training in the fields of economics, management, diplomacy, and their further training, the exchange of teachers, students and research groups.

The document was signed within the state visit of Uzbek President Islam Karimov to Oman in October 2009. It was approved by the Legislative Chamber of the Parliament in March.

It was reported that twenty documents were signed during the visit. Legal basis of mutual relations was established. Favorable conditions for the expansion of cooperation, including the intergovernmental agreements on trade and economic cooperation on air traffic, the additional protocol amending the Agreement on Avoiding Double Taxation and the prevention of tax evasion on income and capital were created.

The agreement to hold consultations and exchange views on international and regional issues of mutual interest was also reached.
