Uzbekistan, China sign cooperation memorandum

Uzbekistan, China sign cooperation memorandum

Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC ) Wu Bangguo and Uzbekistan Oliy Majlis (Parliament) Senate chairman Ilqizar Sobirov signed a memorandum on cooperation between the two countries in Uzbekistan on Wednesday, Uzbekistan parliament reported.

Wu is visiting Uzbekistan upon the invitation of Sobirov and the speaker of Parliament Legislative Chamber Dilorom Tashmukhamedova.

During the meeting the sides mulled the development of bilateral cooperation in various spheres, including politics, trade, economics, and culture.

They particularly noted the cooperation between two countries' parliaments, on the basis of legal agreements achieved during the meeting of the two countries' heads.

The developing relations between Uzbekistan and China allow to intensify ties between two countries' legislative bodies and to strengthen the legal basis of bilateral practical cooperation.

Wu is scheduled to hold talks and meetings at the Uzbekistan Parliament Senate and Legislative Chamber, make a speech in Parliament and visit to Samarqand.

China is a major investor to Uzbekistan with $4 billion total volume of investments and one of the largest trade partners of the country. The volume of the bilateral turnover in 2010 year is $2.48 billion.
