Pakistan’s newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Riaz H. Bukhari today delivered copies of his credentials to Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov addressed for Uzbek President Islam Karimov, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

Pakistan's newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Riaz H. Bukhari today delivered copies of his credentials to Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov addressed for Uzbek President Islam Karimov, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

During the meeting, Abdulaziz Kamilov and Riaz H. Bukhari discussed further development of the Uzbek-Pakistani bilateral relations, including the prospects for intensifying the trade-economic cooperation.

Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues.

According to the official statistics, the bilateral trade volume between Uzbekistan and Pakistan increased by 13.9 percent to $ 26.3 million in 2012.

At present, around 68 enterprises with Pakistani capital, including six enterprises with foreign capital are operating in the production of textile products, paper, leather products, food products, transport sector in Uzbekistan. The representative offices of seven Pakistani firms and companies have been accredited under the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade.
