Kyrgyz side apologizes to Uzbekistan

Heads of border forces of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will meet on Wednesday at the site of yesterday's armed incident on Uzbek-Kyrgyz border, which resulted in the death of two Uzbek servicemen, a representative of Uzbekistan's law enforcement bodies told Trend.

According to the interlocutor, a meeting of regional border guard representatives of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan was held on Tuesday. During the meeting the Kyrgyz side has officially apologized for the death of servicemen of the Committee for Protection of State Border of National Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The meeting of representatives of the regional border of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan was held in Uychi region, in the place where during the incident Kyrgyz border guards opened fire on their Uzbek colleagues.

The head of the regional border department of the Border Service of Kyrgyzstan in Osh and Jalal-Abad regions colonel Abdukarim Alimbaev became convinced that the incident occurred in the territory of Uzbekistan and said that the servicemen deluded the governing authorities. He apologized to the families and relatives of killed Uzbek soldiers.

The proofs were presented to the Kyrgyz side - scrapes and blood traces, cartridge cases, as well as the testimonies of witnesses who were 15 meters from the tragedy site. Colonel Alimbaev became convinced that the weapons actually were illegally used by Kyrgyz border guards in the territory of Uzbekistan.

Namangan military prosecutor's office opened a criminal case on the fact.

Earlier Kyrgyz border agencies spread information that the alleged perpetrators of the incident are Uzbek border guards who crossed the border of Kyrgyzstan and open fire first.

As it was reported earlier, Uzbekistan's border guard was subjected to the armed attack of Kyrgyz border guards on Tuesday, July 23 at 9:30 in the morning. As a result a serviceman of Uzbekistan's border forces - Rovshan Tolipov was killed and another soldier - Turgun Juraev was taken to the regional hospital of Uychi region of Namangan province, where he died during an operation.

According to the press service of the Committee for Protection of State Border of National Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan, cartridge cases and traces of blood of Uzbek border guards were found at the site of the incident, in the territory of Uzbekistan, 100 meters far from the border line.

The Committee for Protection of State Border of National Security Service of Uzbekistan urged the Kyrgyz side give an explanation on the fact of entering the territory of Uzbekistan and using weapons.
