A delegation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) led by the organization's Secretary General Iyad Amin Madani held negotiations with Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

Currently, OIC delegation is on a visit to Uzbekistan.

During the meeting held at Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry, the sides discussed the status and priority areas for further intensifying the cooperation between Uzbekistan and OIC, said the ministry.

The sides also discussed the practical issues of the upcoming presidency of Uzbekistan in the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in 2016, as well as the preparations and holding of the next meeting of the Council of Ministers in Tashkent.

The visit of OIC delegation to Uzbekistan will last three days. During the visit, it is planned to hold meetings and negotiations with the delegation members at the Foreign Ministry, Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade Ministry and the Committee for Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.

OIC secretary general will also become familiar with the sightseeing in Tashkent.

OIC was founded in September 1969 and currently, it brings together 57 countries. Uzbekistan became OIC member in 1996.
