The Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan has raised the cost of education for students in universities of the country in 2015/2016 academic year on a fee basis.

In accordance with the new prices, agreed with the ministry of higher and secondary specialized education, the annual value of the contracts for education in various fields and specialties in undergraduate departments will amount to 5.8 million - 9.4 million soums.

The official exchange rate for August 19 is 2590.38 UZS/$1.

In particular, the tuition for full-time education at the bachelor department in the fields "Training of Teachers and Educational Subjects, Professional Education", "Social Studies, Science", "Humanities", "Mathematics and Statistics, Practical Mathematics and Computer Science", "Sociology and Ethics" will amount to 5.8 million soums versus 5.05 million soums in 2014 (a 14.9 percent increase).

Tuition in the fields "Engineering, Manufacturing and Processing Industries", "Agriculture and Water Resources", "Social Security", "Sporting Activities" and "Protection of the Environment, Safety of Life" will rise by 24.6 percent and amount to 6.29 million soums versus 5.05 million soums in 2014.

"Eastern philology, Philology of Turkic languages, Romance-Germanic Philology," "Journalism and information" will increase in price from 5.5 million soums to 6.3 million soums (a 8.6 percent growth), "Art" - 15.1 percent from 5.95 million soums to 6.85 million soums, "Information Technology and Information Security", "Construction", "Services" and "Transport" - from 5.5 million soums to 6.91 million soums (a 25.6 percent growth).

Tuition for the study of "Architecture" will increase in price by 27.2 percent from 5.95 million soums to 7.57 million soums, "Economics and Business" and "Health Protection" - by 26.3 percent from 6.65 million soums to 8.4 million soums.

Study of "International relations" will cost 8.55 million soums for a year versus 7.45 million soums last academic year (a 14.8 percent growth), "World Economy and International Economic Relations" and "Law" - 9.4 million soums versus 7.45 million soums (a 26.2 percent growth).

There are 58 universities currently operating in Uzbekistan, including 28 of them in Tashkent.

Uzbekistan has a population exceeding 31 million people.
