The Central Bank of Uzbekistan put new 10,000 soum banknotes to circulation on March 10, says a message on the bank’s website.
“Along with the banknotes and coins, which are now in circulation, the issued 10,000 soum banknotes must be accepted at nominal value in cash payments,” reads the Central Bank’s message.
The highest-denomination banknote in Uzbekistan was the 5,000 soum note, which was released in July 2013.
Official exchange rate was 3452.30 soums/$1 on Mar. 10.
