The Uzbek State Committee for Architecture and Construction will be reorganized in line with a decree of the country’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The document criticizes serious shortcomings in urban planning.
The decree says that numerous facts of gross violation of the law on urban planning, requirements of town-planning norms and rules in the reconstruction and improvement of settlements, etc. were established.
The document pointed to the need for radical reorganization of the committee’s activities, improving the legal and institutional base of urban planning, as well as improving the quality of urban planning documentation.
The updated committee structure will include a number of departments, including the department for coordination of activities of project organizations, the department for coordination of educational institutions and others.
Personal responsibility will be laid on the committee chairman and heads of territorial subdivisions for ensuring quality development of general layouts and projects of detailed planning of urban settlements.
