UNIDO invites Uzbekistan to sign agreement on co-op

Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Li Yong has invited Uzbekistan to consider the possibility of signing a standard basic agreement on cooperation with the organization, O’zbekiston TV channel reported.
Yong noted that UNIDO is interested in significant expansion of the organization’s activities in Uzbekistan through the implementation of industrial projects.
He stressed that the document will serve as a legal basis for the provision of services for the development of industrialization and facilitates the implementation of technical assistance projects of UNIDO in Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan is the first of countries in the post-Soviet space, which is invited to sign this agreement.
Yong stressed that if the UNIDO Office is established in Uzbekistan, the Office may acquire the status of a regional center for Central Asia.
