Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) is considering possibility of introducing video assistant referee (VAR), Uzbek media reported referring to the meeting of First Vice-President of UFA Umid Ahmadjonov with Ben Crossing, Managing Director Asia, Middle East & Africa at Hawk-Eye Innovations Ltd., a supplier of the VAR solutions.
“The most important matter for us today is VAR and its implementation in our football,” Ahmadjonov said.
Crossing said the procedure of installing VAR takes four to eight months. In addition to the introduction of VAR, a foreign company should assist in the organization of specialist training.
Testing the VAR system was approved by the International Football Association Board in 2016. Now VAR is used in many European championships, such as Spanish Primera Division, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga and French Ligue 1.
The English Premier League also has reached a principal agreement on the introduction of VAR in the Season 2019/20.
