A cluster for the processing of marble and granite has been created in the city of Gazgan, Navoi region in Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the press service of Uzbek Construction Materials Association.
It is expected that 14 projects worth $52 million will be implemented on the territory of the cluster and 850 jobs will be created in 2020-2021.
The annual capacity of the enterprise is 70,000 cubic meters of natural decorative stone and 1.2 million square meters of processing.
The cluster was created by Marmarobo LLC together with entrepreneurs from Gazgan. NBU (National Bank of Uzbekistan) Gazgan Invest LLC invested 65 billion soums ($6.27 million) in the construction of the main building and 10 more buildings of the project.
Currently, construction work has been completed and these facilities have been handed over to local entrepreneurs for the installation of equipment. Marmarobod LLC mainly extracts stones and supplies all processors with the necessary raw materials.
The company is currently importing state-of-the-art energy-saving equipment from China, completing the installation of this equipment and producing products in a test mode.
More than 250 enterprises for the processing of facing stones (marble, granite, etc.) operate in Uzbekistan today.
It is planned to implement 23 projects in Uzbekistan for the production of 2.6 million square meters of marble, granite and other types of stones by the end of 2022.
