Andijan region of Uzbekistan has become the leader in the growing of fruits and berries in the country, producing over one-fifth of the total volume of their production, Trend reports referring to Uzbek Dunyo Information Agency.
Along with this, according to the country’s State Statistics Committee, high rates were also observed in Fergana (14 percent), Samarkand (13.9 percent), Bukhara (10.4 percent), and Namangan (9 percent) regions.
From January through September 2020, farms of all categories in Uzbekistan cultivated over 2.06 million tons of fruits and berries, which rose by 3.9 percent compared to the same period of 2019.
Compared to other categories of farms, the largest volume of fruit and berry production was recorded in dekhkan farms – 1.26 million tons, or 61.3 percent of the total cultivation.
In the current period, the production in farms made up 4.4 percent, 1.6 percent in dekhkan farms, and 79.9 percent in organizations engaged in agricultural activities.
The volume of export of fruits and vegetables in the first nine months of this year amounted to over 1.08 million tons, and in value, terms exceeded $696.1 million.
