In Uzbekistan, over the nine months of 2021, commercial banks issued mortgage loans for 6.1 trillion soums ($570 million), which is 4.8 percent lower than the same period of 2020, Trend reports via the central Bank of Uzbekistan.
From January through September 2021, banks issued mortgage loans to 41,932 individuals.
Over the nine months of 2021, about 4.89 trillion soums ($457 million) or 80 percent of total loans were allocated for the purchase of housing in the primary market, which is 28.7 percent less compared to the same period of 2020.
Individuals received 1.25 trillion soums ($116.8 million) or 20 percent of total loans, for the purchase of housing in the secondary market, which is 8.6 times more than in the nine months of 2020.
The leaders in terms of the volume of mortgage loans in nine months of 2021 were the city of Tashkent - 1.64 trillion soums ($153.2 million) or 26.8 percent of the total amount of loans issued, Samarkand - 585 billion soums ($54.6 million), and Fergana region - 570 billion soums ($53.2 million).
