BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan.12

By Natavan Rzayeva -Trend:

Uzbekistan plans to modernize its gas transportation system within a public-private partnership program, Trend reports citing the press service of the president of Uzbekistan.

The pilot project will be implemented in the country’s Jizzakh region.

Turkish Aksa Dogalgaz company will take part in the implementation of the project.

To date, more than half of the gas pipelines in the country (45,000 km lengths) have been in operation for over 30 years. As a result of wear and tear, losses of gas exceed 20 percent.

The gas supply system of the Jizzakh region includes 767 km of gas pipelines, 6 gas distribution stations, and more than 1,600 gas distribution points. A pilot project for the modernization of the gas transportation system based on international standards with the attraction of direct investments has been developed for the region.
