BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 8. Uzbekistan’s Xalq Bank ranked first in terms of most POS terminals operating across the country, Trend reports with reference to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan (CBU).
According to the CBU, Xalq Bank has 48,837 POS terminals, as of February 1, 2023, followed by Agrobank (40,815), and Ipoteka-bank (40,700).
The bank says that among the 32 banks of the country, the smallest number of POS terminals operates in the following banks: TBC bank – 33, Saderat bank Tashkent – 32, as well as Uzagroeksportbank – 29.
Uzbekistan’s number of POS terminals amounted to 433,525, as of the beginning of February 2023.
The latest statistical data of the CBU note that, in January 2023, the total volume of payments through POS terminals amounted to 17.6 trillion soums ($1.5 billion) – an increase of 68.9 percent year-on-year, January 2022 – 10.4 trillion soums or $920.08 million.

Meanwhile, as of February 1, 2023, the number of ATMs in Uzbekistan amounted to 20,390, increasing by 56.3 percent, compared to the figure for February 1, 2022 (13,041). Uzbekistan’s Xalq Bank has the largest number of ATMs (2,404), followed by Agrobank (2,155) and Kapitalbank (2,084).
