BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. The number of bank cards in circulation in Uzbekistan amounted to 35.7 million, as of the beginning of March 2023, Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s Central Bank (CBU).
This figure has increased by 28.4 percent year-on-year, as of March 1, 2022 – 27.8 million.
According to the CBU, Uzbekistan’s Xalq Bank by issuing 7.5 million plastic cards has become the leader. Followed by Agrobank – 3.9 million, Ipoteka-bank – 3.1 million, National bank – 3.09 million, and Ipak Yuli bank – 2.2 million.
CBU notes that among the 33 banks of Uzbekistan, the smallest number of cards issued into circulation was registered in Uzbekistan’s Uzagroeksportbank – 1,408.
At the same time, the number of POS terminals in Uzbekistan, during the reporting period, decreased by 1.1 percent and amounted to 428,838 over 433,986 in 2M2022.
Meanwhile, as of February 1, 2023, in Uzbekistan, the number of bank cards in circulation reached 34.8 million, which is an increase of 27.9 percent year-on-year (as of February 1, 2022 –27.2 million).
