Uzbekistan intends to increase production of gold, uranium

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. Uzbekistan plans to increase gold production to 150 tons per year, Deputy Minister of Mining and Geology of Uzbekistan Omonullo Nasritdinkhodzhayev said, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

He made the remark speaking at the session current challenges of international cooperation in metallurgy and mining industry within the framework of the International Industrial Exhibition "Innoprom Central Asia" held in Uzbek city of Tashkent.

He noted that at the moment about 105 tons of gold are mined in Uzbekistan per year.

Furthermore, Nasritdinkhodzhayev added that by 2030 the country plans to double the volume of uranium production – from 3,600 through 7,000 tons, as well as coal – from 5 million through 10 million tons.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan in February took the first place in the sale of gold in the world, reducing its reserves by almost 22 tons to 339 tons.
