BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 2. Uzbekistan and the German KfW bank have signed a loan agreement to finance the project "Support for Healthcare Digitalization Reforms”, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

Following the signed agreement, the bank will allocate to Uzbekistan some 45 million euros for a period of 12 years, including a five-year grace period, as well as, provide a grant in the amount of 5.5 million euros.

The abovementioned agreement was made public in the Uzbek president's decree related to the digitalization of the healthcare system.

On May 1, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed an "On additional measures to digitalize the healthcare system" decree.

Following the decree, Uzbekistan will implement the "Electronic recipe" system; develop the "Electronic Sanatorium" platform, which will increase the possibility of obtaining a ticket to a sanatorium, tracking the queue and availability of free places; will implement the "Cancer-register" information system for maintaining an electronic list of cancer patients; will create the possibility of obtaining leaflets and certificates of temporary disability through a single portal of public services.

The changes in the Uzbek healthcare sector follow up the activities of 2022, when the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, within the framework of the state support project for digital reforms in the healthcare sector, developed a plan for the digitalization of medical institutions for 2022-2026. The first priority of the plan was the creation of an ICT infrastructure for connecting to the Internet and the computerization of treatment and preventive care establishments, pharmacies, and health authorities.
