BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 11. Uzbekistan has exported some 9,000 tons of prunes worth $12.8 million from January through March 2023, Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee.
The country’s prunes export has significantly increased in the reporting period – an increase of 83.6 percent, compared to the volume of what was exported during the first quarter of 2022 – 4,900 tons.
In 2022, Uzbekistan exported 1.7 million tons of fruit and vegetables worth $1.1 billion, decreasing by 18.5 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2021.
Uzbekistan is famous as a manufacturer and exporter of high-quality fruit and vegetable products.
Overall, during the first quarter of 2023, trade partners of Uzbekistan imported some 217,600 tons of fruit and vegetables, decreasing by 1.2 times or 41,400 tons, compared to the reporting period in 2022.
During the reporting period, in addition to prunes, the list of exported Uzbek fruit and vegetable products also included the following ones: some 35,000 tons of mung beans, some 25,400 tons of cabbages, some 21,700 tons of dried grapes, some 12,800 tons of fresh grapes, some 12,000 tons of tomatoes, some 8,500 tons of pomegranates, etc.
