BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 11. Uzbekistan plans to attract some $100 million from international organizations for preferential green credit lines for the SMEs, who will install solar power panels on their property, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said during the meeting on the topics of energy supply and the introduction of green energy, Trend reports via the press secretary of the Uzbek president.
During the meeting, president Mirziyoyev emphasized that during the summer season, Uzbekistan’s energy demand is expected to grow up to 255 million kWh, compared to the summer season of last year – 237 million kWh.
In order to cover the country’s energy demand, Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to stimulate the country's entrepreneurs to install solar panels with favorable credit conditions, thus 100 billion soums ($8.7 million) will be allocated for compensation of interest on loans issued to citizens.
Back in April 2023, Uzbekistan announced the provision of benefits on taxes for individuals and legal entities, who installed in their properties renewable energy resources with a total capacity of 100 kW, as the authorities are looking to boost the development of renewables countrywide.
