BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Türkiye from January through April 2023 decreased year-on-year, Trend reports.
The latest data shows that, in the reporting period of 2023, the bilateral trade between the two countries reached little over $1 billion. However, this figure has slightly decreased, compared to $1.1 billion over the same period of 2022.
As such, Uzbek exports to Türkiye in January-April 2023 amounted to $450 million - down by 22 percent year-on-year ($577 million over the same period of 2022).
Uzbekistan's imports from Türkiye, in turn, increased by 4 percent, compared to January-April 2022 ($574.8 million), totaling $598.2 million.
In 2022, Türkiye's trade turnover with Uzbekistan amounted to $3.2 billion, which is a decrease of 5.4 percent, compared to the figure for 2021 ($3.4 billion).
Earlier this year, Ambassador of Türkiye to Uzbekistan Olgan Bekar pointed out that Türkiye and Uzbekistan have set a target to increase the level of trade turnover to $5 billion per year in the near future, noting that Türkiye is also one of the main investors in Uzbekistan’s economy.
