DP World to prepare development strategy for Navoi SEZ in Uzbekistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 22. DP World, a global leader in supply chain solutions, is set to prepare a comprehensive development strategy for the Navoi Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Uzbekistan, Trend reports.

According to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade, this was stated during the negotiations held between Oybek Khamraev, Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Mohammad Sulaiman Al Suwaidi, Director of Special Economic Zones at DP World, and Harish Rajagopalan, Project Consultant at CBRE consulting company.

During the discussions, the prospects for further collaboration in improving the management of special economic zones and transport and logistics infrastructure were explored. The focus was specifically on the development of the Navoi SEZ and the cargo terminal at Navoi International Airport. The foreign delegation was introduced to the industrial potential of the special economic zone and the technological characteristics of the cargo terminal.

Opportunities to enhance the efficiency of the SEZ and increase the terminal's capacity through innovative approaches and leveraging DP World's expertise were highlighted.

As a result of the meeting, DP World committed to presenting a comprehensive development strategy for the Navoi SEZ by the end of September this year.

DP World, established in 2005, specializes in the management and development of maritime and inland ports worldwide. With operations spanning over 150 companies in 45 countries, the company generated an annual revenue of $10.7 billion in 2021.

On May 29, DP World appointed CBRE as the project consultant. CBRE, a renowned consulting firm with over 30 years of experience, has been recognized as one of the global leaders in the industry. With a presence in 100 countries and more than 500 offices, CBRE boasts a workforce of over 115,000 employees.
