TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 22. China becomes the leader in volumes of trade turnover with Uzbekistan in the first eight months of 2023, Trend reports.
Trade turnover between the countries amounted to $8.3 billion from January through August 2023, which is 20.7 percent of the whole trade turnover volume of Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan’s overall trade turnover amounted to $40 billion from January through August 2023, which is 23.2 percent ($7.5 billion) more compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, China purchased $370.5 million worth of gas from Uzbekistan from January through August 2023, which is 40 percent less than the same period in 2022.
Furthermore, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and China has doubled over the past four years, as the mutual trade volume was fixed at $4.8 billion in 2017 and reached $8.9 billion by the end of 2022. The increase in exports between the countries was 23.4 percent, while the volume of imports grew by 134.7 percent.
