TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 19. All of Uzbekistan’s Silk Avia Airlines' shares will be transferred to Uzbekistan Helicopters, a subsidiary of Uzbekistan Airways, Trend reports.

Previously, the status of the exclusive founder of Silk Avia was held by Uzbekistan Airports.

Under the new directive, Silk Avia will receive three ATR72-600 aircraft, formerly part of Uzbekistan Airport's balance sheet.

Furthermore, in alignment with its development plan, Silk Avia aims to augment its fleet by acquiring additional aircraft of the same model. Overall, the airline plans to purchase 10 aircraft by 2025, five of which will be purchased by ATR aircraft directly from the manufacturer. The carrier also received three aircraft from Bangkok Airways through the British Jetcraft Company, which specializes in commercial aircraft sales and leasing.

Within this revised structure, the responsibility for aircraft procurement falls under the purview of Uzbekistan Helicopters, a subsidiary of Uzbekistan Airways. Beyond aircraft acquisition, the subsidiary's mandate extends to broader operational enhancements. This encompasses expanding Silk Avia's flight coverage, increasing flight frequency, and introducing new destinations.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan Airports announced the establishment of Silk Avia Airlines for low-cost domestic flights back in November 2021. The first board of Silk Avia arrived in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent on March 21.
