Uzbekistan notes increase in electricity production

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 21. Uzbekistan produced 63.02 billion kWh of electricity from January through October this year, Trend reports.

Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency said that during this period, the growth of electricity production compared to the first ten months of 2022 amounted to 5.1 percent.

At the same time, enterprises in Uzbekistan from January through October 2023 reduced the generation of thermal energy by 6.8 percent in the reporting period – to 19.06 million Gcal.

Earlier in September, Uzbekistan approved an increase in energy tariffs for enterprises across the country. The changes came into force on October 1, 2023 and affected only legal entities — tariffs for the population remained the same.

Meanwhile, the total volume of electricity produced in Uzbekistan in 2022 amounted to 74.3 billion kWh, which is 3 billion kWh, or 4.2 percent more than in the same period of 2021.
