BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 24. The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs places a strategic emphasis on fostering robust bilateral trade relations with Uzbekistan, UAE’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Saeed Mattar Sultan Alqemzi told Trend.
"In this regard, we aim for collaborative investments in various sectors, including renewable energy, transport, and logistics, as well as agriculture, digitalization, and tourism," he said.
The ambassador noted that the Emirati-Uzbek cooperation is characterized by the parties’ commitment to the continuous enhancement of public administration and the ongoing training of modern personnel.
“These collaborative efforts reflect a shared vision between the two nations to explore new realms of long-term bilateral partnership. Notably, there is a specific focus on fostering innovation and advancing Artificial Intelligence initiatives,” Alqemzi added.
The UAE ambassador stressed that UAE aims to further cultivate deep and distinguished relations with all countries, including Uzbekistan, guided by dedication to scientific and technological progress, as well as the establishment of an economy based on knowledge and diversity.
Meanwhile, during a recent meeting between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, the high dynamics of growth of diverse Uzbek-Emirati ties were recognized with satisfaction.
Simultaneously, the parties stressed the effective implementation of cooperative activities, such as building e-government, within the framework of the chosen road map adopted earlier this year.
The officials confirmed their mutual interest in further expanding practical cooperation in the areas of effective management, development of trade potential, modernization of urban infrastructure, high technology, artificial intelligence and other areas.
The total investments' portfolio of projects of the UAE in Uzbekistan stood at over $4 billion as of July, 2023. Recently, the UAE's Masdar energy company has signed an agreement with the Government of Uzbekistan on the joint implementation of solar PV and wind power projects of total capacity of 2,150 MW and 500 MW worth $2.6 billion.
