Uzbekistan releases bank cash turnover volume in 2023

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, January 23. Volume of Uzbekistan's bank cash turnover amounted to 831 trillion soums ($67.3 billion) in 2023 and increased by 19 percent year-on-year, Trend reports.

In particular, cash inflow to banks increased by 20 percent to 414 trillion soums ($33.5 billion) compared to last year.

Total amount of cash receipts in Uzbekistan amounted to 669 trillion soums ($54.2 billion) in 2023 and increased by 28 percent year-on-year.

There was also an increase in the share of revenue through terminals in the total amount of cash receipts from 34 percent to 38 percent compared to 2022, and accordingly, the share of revenue through terminals from trade and services increased from 37 percent to 40 percent.

Cash disbursements from banks' cash desks (including through ATMs) increased by 17 percent to 417 trillion soums ($33.7 billion) in 2023 year-on-year.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's gold and foreign exchange reserves amounted to $34.56 billion as of January 1, 2024, increasing by $1.66 billion in December 2023.

According to the new data, foreign currency assets amounted to $9.3 billion.

The amount of foreign currency in reserves increased by $751.3 million. Other foreign currency assets account for $86.3 million.
