TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 2. Uzbek Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company's (NMMC) gold reserves have increased by 1,000 tons, head of the company Kuvandik Sanakulov said, Trend reports.
He spoke at a meeting where Uzbek president Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with a presentation on measures to develop metallurgical enterprises of Uzbekistan on February 1.
The meeting was attended by heads of Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company, Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine, Uzbek Metallurgical Combine (Uzmetkombinat) and Navoiyuran state enterprise, as well as Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov and others.
Kuvandik Sanakulov noted that the combine faces the task of manufacturing an additional $150 million worth of products, as well as carrying out digitalization and transformation.
According to him, NMMC will pay 45 trillion soums ($3.6 billion) in taxes and dividends to the state budget in 2024, which is 20.6 percent more year-on-year (37.3 trillion soums or $3 billion).
The president also thoroughly familiarized with the company's investment activities and took interest in the exploration activities being carried out. Preliminary calculations show that another 1,000 tons of gold will be added to NMMC's current reserves.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company JSC manufactured products worth 67.5 trillion soums ($5.4 billion) in 2023, which is 3.8 percent more year-on-year.
