Uzbekistan increases vehicle sales in January

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 17. Uzbekistan's vehicle sales increased by 8 percent and amounted to 144,500 units in January 2024, Trend reports.

As per data of Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR), at the same time there was a 14 percent growth compared to January last year.

A total of 128,000 passenger cars were sold in the first month of the year, which is 6 percent more over month. The highest growth rates were observed in Navoi, Ferghana and Bukhara regions. In annual terms, the passenger car market grew by more than 8 percent.

In the primary market sales increased by 1.4 percent, the market grew by 22 percent over the year. At the same time, sales of new domestic cars increased by almost one percent, 28,000 cars were sold during the month.

More than 96,000 cars were sold in the secondary market, which is 7.6 percent more than a month earlier. At the same time, the growth amounted to 4.4 percent compared to January last year. Sales of new foreign cars increased by 5.7 percent and amounted to 3,470 cars.

CERR noted a decline in interest in electric cars in January 2024. Their sales amounted to 3,300 cars, which is 7.8 percent less than a month earlier. The biggest decline in sales was observed in Samarkand, Khorezm and Navoi regions. However, in annual terms, sales grew 7.7 times.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan sold 1.69 million vehicles in 2023, which is 18 percent more year-on-year. Peak values were recorded in May and October, when sales exceeded 156,000 and 186,000 vehicles.
