TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 27. A total of 6.6 million foreigners visited Uzbekistan for tourism purposes in 2023, Trend reports.
As per data from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, this figure is 1.4 million, or 26.6 percent more year-on-year.
The largest number of foreigners who visited Uzbekistan for tourism purposes in 2023 were citizens of Tajikistan (2.1 million), Kyrgyzstan (1.7 million), Kazakhstan (1.3 million), Russia (714,300), and Türkiye (106,500).
Meanwhile, the data from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency shows that a total of 520,169 foreign citizens visited Uzbekistan in January 2024.
Furthermore, Uzbekistan exported tourism services worth $1.83 billion in the first ten months of 2023, up from $1.041 billion in 2018. The year 2023 was predicted to see significant growth in the overall number of travelers, with tourism service exports reaching $2 billion.
Funds have been provided to Uzbekistan's diplomatic missions in 28 countries to promote the country's tourism potential and increase visitor arrivals.
