TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, March 7. Uzbekistan has launched a modern center for environmental diagnostics of motor vehicles in Tashkent, Trend reports.
According to the president's office, at the center, along with issuing state license plates and registration certificates, vehicles will be checked for the amount of harmful substances emitted. Depending on the results of the environmental check, a red, yellow, or green sticker with an RFID chip will be placed on the car's windshield.
Thus, vehicle registration is now done in just three steps. Earlier, the process used to take six or seven stages.
In the future, based on the current situation, it is planned to divide the city into several ecological zones. According to the color of their sticker, vehicles will be restricted from entering these zones. Access to the ecological zones for unauthorized vehicles will be controlled in an automated mode.
When organizing the work of the center, the best practices in the field of environmental protection of such countries as Germany, Belgium, and France were taken into account.
It is also planned to install about 100 automatic air monitoring stations throughout Uzbekistan, equip 84 registration and diagnostic centers, and equip 216 district offices of the Road Traffic Safety Service with modern diagnostic equipment.
In turn, practical measures will be taken to encourage people to purchase electric cars. One of such measures will be a reduction in the fee for the issuance of state license plates for this category of vehicles.
Meanwhile, a network of electric vehicle charging stations will be created in Uzbekistan, given the launch of their production and the high demand for this type of transportation in the country.
