TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, January 27. Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan discussed the development of a comprehensive and ambitious agenda to strengthen their multifaceted partnership, Trend reports.

The matter was reviewed at a meeting between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, during the latter's visit to Uzbekistan for bilateral political consultations.

The sides noted the dynamic growth in trade turnover, which exceeded $1.1 billion in 2024. They highlighted ongoing cooperation on establishing the Shavat-Dashoguz cross-border trade zone and strengthening partnerships in industrial cooperation, energy, transport, logistics, agriculture, and water resource management. The officials emphasized that the regional and cultural exchanges are also expanding.

Both parties underscored the preparations for upcoming high-level visits, the Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders, and summits in the Central Asia + format.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on international political issues, underscoring the mutual commitment to closer collaboration in the region.
