President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Sunday night (Monday morning Tehran times) that the great and noble Iranian nation will pass all barriers and move forward irrespective of "certain people's" claims.
Speaking to reporters upon arrival in John F. Kennedy to attend the 63rd UN General Assembly meeting for the fourth year since 2005 when he assumed presidential post, President Ahmadinejad said that throughout history, especially in the past three years, the ill-wishers have been trying hard to obstruct Iranian nation's progress under different pretexts but to no avail, reported IRNA.
"Of course, Iranian nation's strength is right and cultural and humanitarian one in nature. It (the nation) has been moving in line with its rights and the law; it is successful today and will be so in the future either," he added.
The president said the UN provides a venue for expression and exchange of ideas, opinions and views on key global matters and today too, very important issues such as poverty, gaps, ample conflicts in different regions, occupation and aggression have gripped mankind and directors in different societies.
"These are the issues which should be discussed and examined and their root causes should be identified and due solutions be presented," he added.
He noted that he would in the UN General Assembly session raise Iranian nation's stance on different issues and that he will meet the world heads of state on the sidelines of the meeting.
President Ahmadinejad is to address the UN General Assembly meeting Tuesday evening local times.
