Iran arrested four members of the Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK) terror organization during operations last week, the Fars news agency quoted Iranian Border Guard Commander, General Hussein Zulfugari as saying today.
Zulfugari refused to disclose names of the arrested individuals.
PJAK is an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is blacklisted as a terrorist organization by the United States, EU and much of the international community. PJAK is engaged in armed clashes with Iranian security forces along the country's border with Iraq.
The PKK is also responsible for many deadly operations in northern Iraq and Turkey.
