As Iran opened a fresh round of comprehensive talks with six major world powers, Tehran says it expects the P5+1 to change its previous approach and generate a more constructive atmosphere, Press TV reported.
"Iran has entered negotiations with the P5+1 (Russia, China, France, Britain and the US plus Germany) with a very positive and constructive approach," Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast told a press conference on Tuesday.
"The expectation is that the P5+1 will also help establish a constructive and positive atmosphere in this round of talks by modifying its previous approach," he added.
The spokesperson emphasized that the attitude of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany can determine the outcome of the ongoing multifaceted talks.
He expressed optimism that the comprehensive talks would lead to a productive outcome by respecting the rights of nations, particularly those of Iranian people.
"We have given the P5+1 countries the opportunity to (help) establish a new tone in the world as a new approach will be placed on the agenda (of talks) based on promoting justice and fighting discrimination and double standards," Mehmanparast further explained.
Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili and EU Foreign Affairs chief Catherine Ashton opened the multifaceted talks between Iran and the P5+1 in Geneva on Monday after the West expressed its willingness to return to the negotiating table.
