Several Iranian football players and coaches have been arrested for having attended a party, Tehran press reported Thursday.
No names were mentioned by the papers but there are speculation that some of the arrested footballers were national team players and all of them play in the country's premier league, DPA reported.
The players and coaches were arrested last week at a party in northern Tehran, the reports said.
Due to Islamic laws, holding parties, dancing and drinking alcohol are strictly prohibited and offenders are arrested and are either temporarily jailed or forced to pay heavy cash fines.
The disciplinary committee of the Iranian football federation said that if the charges were confirmed, then players and coaches would be banned for at least three years.
