The Iranian minister of energy said Iran has reached self-sufficiency in the electricity industry and is currently constructing huge water and power projects in many countries of the world.
Majid Namjoo said this fact shows that Iranian specialists in the electricity industry have very high potential in this field, IRNA reported.
He went on to say that this success is due to the Islamic revolution in the country, because before that everything in the industry was run by foreigners.
Now Iran is the top electricity producer in the region and has the capacity to produce more than 60,000MW of electricity, he said.
Iran exchanges electricity with all of its land neighbors and will soon connect its power grid to the Persian Gulf littoral states as well as Europe via Turkey.
