Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has stressed the importance of drawing comprehensive plans for tightening security in the country's border regions, Press TV reported with reference to IRNA.
"The strong Iranian government will not let foreigners undermine the security of Iran and its people, particularly in border areas," Salehi told in the southeastern city of Zahedan in Sistan-Baluchestan province.
He added that Iran would make use of its utmost political and military capabilities to strengthen security in the country.
"The Islamic Republic has adopted great measures to uproot terrorists and their affiliated groups in border regions and this process will be continued in the future," the top Iranian diplomat pointed out.
Salehi said stability of neighboring countries is a top priority of Iran's diplomacy, adding, "If our neighbors enjoy security, stability and welfare, our country will also benefit from welfare and security."
His remarks came after Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar said Sunday the government has devised a new plan for enhancing control and security along the country's borders.
He added that the new plan has been implemented along the eastern and northwestern borders of the country, and will be put into practice along the entire borders of the Islamic Republic in the near future.
