FM spokesman: Kidnapped Iranians freed in Afghanistan

İran Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Wednesday that Iranian nationals kidnapped in Afghanistan have been released and transferred to a safe place, IRNA reported.

Mehmanparast said on Wednesday that the group have been freed thanks to wide-scale efforts of Iranian diplomatic mission.

"Fortunately, following intensive efforts of Foreign Ministry and our Embassy in Kabul and through constant consultations with senior political and security officials of Afghanistan, the Iranian nationals kidnapped in Farah province were eventually freed and transferred to a safe place", he said.

Unknown armed men on Sunday abducted 12 Iranian engineers, working for a road building company on a project for construction of 78 miles of roads in Farah province of Afghanistan, and transferred them to an unknown location.
