Interior Minister: West fearful of Iran's military might

The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic have strongly displayed the country's immense military might which has raised fear in the West, Iran's Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar said, Press TV reported with reference to ISNA.

"Iran's Armed Forces have succeeded to design and manufacture domestically-built military weapons and to turn the Islamic Republic into a regional and international power," Mohammad-Najjar said in the central Iranian city of Arak on Monday.

He added that enemies could not pose serious threats against the Islamic establishment in Iran thanks to its great military power.

The minister pointed out that the assassination of Iranian scientists shows the enemies' weakness and stated that enemies moved to kill Iranian scientists and elite following their failure in confronting the country's militarily.

On July 23, unknown gunmen targeted Iranian university student Daryoush Rezaienejad, 35, and his wife who were on their way to their child's kindergarten. The gunmen called Rezaienejad by name and shot him in the neck when he turned around.

On November 29, 2010, two other Iranian academics became the target of terrorist attacks.

Unidentified terrorists detonated bombs in the vehicles of Dr. Majid Shahriari and Professor Fereydoun Abbasi in separate locations in the capital Tehran. Shahriari was killed immediately but Abbasi and his wife sustained injuries.

On December 2, Iran's Intelligence Ministry announced that Mossad, CIA and MI6 spy agencies played a role in those attacks.
