Salehi: Iran is ready for talks with G5+1 in Turkey

Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi expressed hope Thursday that as per correspondences between Iranian chief nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili and head of EU's Foreign Policy Commission, Catherine Ashton the talks between Iran and the 5+1 Group would resume, IRNA reported.

'We hope the talks between Iran and the 5+1 Group (five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) would take place at a venue to be agreed upon by both sides, preferably Turkey in my opinion,' the foreign minister added.

Salehi made the remarks in a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Thursday and in response to a question on how Iran-5+1 Group talks would continue.

He referred to a brief dialogue he had with Ashton in a conference on Afghanistan held in Bonn, Germany on holding talks with 5+1 Group.

'In that dialogue, I told Ashton to propose time and venue for holding the talks while Saeed Jalili would also propose time and place for holding the talks,' Salehi added.
