Iran has exported some $439 million worth of handmade carpets in the first 10 months of the current calendar year, which began on March 21, 2011, the vice president of Iran's National Carpet Center said.
The amount showed a 3.6 percent decrease compared to the same period last year, Mehdi Kateb told the Mehr news agency.
The UAE, Germany and Lebanon were the primary destinations for Persian carpets, he noted.
The value of Iran's handmade carpet exports in the current calendar year is projected to hit $600 million.
Iran exported $556 million worth of handmade carpets during the previous calendar year -- up 12 percent year on year.
