Five Iranian fishermen that were captured in Qatar in 2011 and 2012 were released today, Iranian ambassador to Qatar Abdullah Sohrabi said, Mehr reported.

Five Iranian fishermen that were captured in Qatar in 2011 and 2012 were released today, Iranian ambassador to Qatar Abdullah Sohrabi said, Mehr reported.

According to ambassador, a total of 17 people were captured in Qatar for trespassing the maritime boundaries between Iran and Qatar. Five of those captured were Iranians, and other twelve - foreigners.

Reportedly, two boats with fishermen trespassed the the maritime boundaries between Iran and Qatar, while not having the necessary permits for fishing.

Thanks to the efforts of Iranian embassy in Qatar, five Iranian fishermen were released, while other twelve foreigners are still kept in captivity.
