Iranian president's top Advisor Mojtaba Samareh Hashemi is to meet new Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and invite him to attend NAM summit in Tehran, Presidential Office director general for international affairs Mohammad Reza Forghani said on Sunday.

According to the IRAN report, Hashemi is to deliver the written invitation letter of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to his Egyptian counterpart inviting him to the 16th Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Tehran.

Speaking to IRNA, Forghani said since Tehran is to host the next NAM summit, the Iranian president is to send an official invitation letter to his Egyptian counterpart to attend the event, he said.

Egypt is the current president of the NAM and the presidency of the international body will be entrusted to Iran in the upcoming summit.

This is the first visit of a high ranking Iranian officialto Egypt since the new Egyptian president took office.

President Ahmadinejad in a telephone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart congratulated him on his victory and personally invited him to NAM Summit in Tehran.

NAM Summit is slated to be held in mid August in Tehran during which Iran will take over the rotating presidency of the 118-member movement for three years.
