General Secretary of United Nations Ban Ki-moon who arrived in Iran today to participate in 16th summit of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), said that a meeting with some Iranian top officials, including Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is scheduled, Fars reported.

Ban Ki-moon also told a journalist at Tehran's airport that he will discuss the Syrian crisis issue with Iran as well.

Earlier, Iranian Mehr News Agency reported that Ban Ki-Moon will visit Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday afternoon and after the meeting they will visit Khamenei altogether.

A spokesman for Ban Ki-Moon said on Tuesday that the secretary general is to discuss different international and regional issues with Iranian senior officials. Martin Nesirky said details of the meetings will be published soon. The spokesman added that the secretary general will leave Tehran on Saturday.

The 16th summit of the NAM member states kicked off in the Iranian capital Tehran, on Sunday.

According to Iran official statements, representatives from 120 countries including 50 high level officials such as presidents, prime ministers and vice-presidents will participate at the NAM summit. The heads meeting will be held on Thursday.

NAM, an international organisation with 120-member states and considered as not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc.
